Barn Owl is a classically neutral mid grey with a hint of soft brown in its undertone — just enough to add warmth without looking muddy. When it comes to using a darker shade of grey paint such as Barn Owl, one fear is that it may make a room feel smaller but actually this warm-toned grey will trick the eye into making the wall recede, and can even make a small space feel bigger. Test the theory in a bathroom powder room or entry way. Barn Owl will make a lovely backdrop in a kid’s bedroom; they won’t grow out of the colour and they can add personality with removable wall stickers. It will add a sense of restful cosiness and may even (hopefully!) encourage sleep.
